Environmental modelling

Environmental modelling team, led by doc. Ing. Petr Máca, Ph.D., is engaged in meteorological and hydrological monitoring and modelling. The aim of the research is to describe the impacts of climate change on the water regime in the landscape. Particular emphasis is placed on the analysis of extreme climatic events, changes in precipitation and drought development in order to design effective adaptation measures for individual project sites. In addition, analysis of climatic trends and simulations of future hydrological conditions due to climate change are addressed. The team develops mathematical models to evaluate the most appropriate adaptation measures, which then serve as a basis for the implementation of specific interventions in the landscapes. Collaboration with regional institutions is also an important part of the team's work, with the aim of sharing research results and applying best practices in water management.
