Water Management Projects

The Water Management Projects Team led by Tereza Hnátková, Ph.D. specializes in research, monitoring, and designing technologies for sustainable water management in the landscape. The main areas of activity include water retention, erosion control, water regime revitalization, nature-based solutions, and decentralized wastewater treatment solutions. The team focuses on the development and application of models for simulating surface runoff, infiltration, and water balance, which serve to identify vulnerable locations and design effective adaptation measures. They also prepare design solutions for small water reservoirs, denitrification wetlands, controlled drainage systems, and wastewater treatment plants, often supplemented with monitoring elements and digital tools. Conceptually, they are based on blue-green infrastructure approaches, which integrate technical and nature-based solutions to enhance climate resilience, biodiversity, and water quality in both agricultural and urban landscapes.
