Course on "Water Management in Times of Climate Change" for the Ohře River Basin

On September 24th, 2025, our team conducted a specialized course on "Water Management in Times of Climate Change", prepared as part of the RUR – Region to University, University to Region project.. The event took place at the headquarters of the state-owned company Povodí Ohře in Chomutov, with the participation of the company's management. A total of 28 people took part in the course.

The latest findings on climate change and the possibilities for implementing adaptation measures were presented. A new digital twin tool for river basins, currently in development, will facilitate the modeling of various hydrological phenomena and subsequent decision-making in practice. Last but not least, trends in water quality assurance and the use of geophysical surveys and monitoring as essential inputs for smart solutions were also discussed.

The discussion focused on practical issues concerning the application of modern technologies in water resource management.

The course confirmed the importance of cooperation between universities and industry and showed how leading scientific institutions can contribute to solving current challenges in the field of water management.
